I’m not one of those fitness freaks, I’m just an ordinary woman who wants to feel great!
I didn’t even like PE or sports when I was a kid. In fact, even as an adult, exercise had all the appeal of pure torture.
It wasn’t until I was made redundant from my job while on maternity leave, that my feelings changed. I wanted to shift that last bit of stubborn baby weight, and I also needed a break from the demands of my home life, so the local gym became the perfect escape.
I was expecting to look better in a few months, but what I didn’t expect was how good I felt almost straight away. It was as though someone had flicked a switch and I could enjoy life a lot more. A year later, I was still hooked!
With two young kids and my mum to take care of (she suffered a stroke when I was young), I decided that instead of looking for another job, I would start my own personal training business in my home gym.
And so began one of the best chapters of my life. For the past 7 years I’ve been helping other busy mums transform their bodies and improve their lives.I love being a personal trainer — it’s my calling. If I help just one person discover the self-love, joy and confidence exercising and eating right can bring, my soul is satisfied.
